Off the Topic of Coupons

OK so this is off the topic as you know this is all very new to me. Blogging is new to me not coupons as so far I have about 10 subscribers, no emails are going out, I know this because I suscribed myself also, and this is a big pain because several of you will not see my posts if its not in a convient little email. So I am going now to email feedburner see if I did anything wrong, and then email my dad and see if he can help.

The next thing is RSS feed, alot of people do not know what this is, and I did not either until recently. I find it very useful as I hate email. I was suprised to find many people to not have a homepage. A homepage is just the first window that your browser opens up to. I currently have 2 when I click my browser 2 tabs open one is yahoo, the other is www.igoogle.com, I really love the google, as it is personally customized to me. It has a cutesy banner, cute colors, my horoscope, you get to add wahtever you want, you do need a google id to do this. Now how the Rss feed fits in all this. Right in the center of my google page is my RSS feeds, it is shows the blogs I am reading and every time there is an update its shows on my homepage. So say I add more stuff to CinasCrazyCoupons it will show a title link which I click to a small window to read what was posted, if I want to go to the website I can. This allows me to not have to open my email and with one glance I can see if there is anything new to read. If you have google search bar there is even a button for RSS feed

Even if you don't want to get into all of this please at least pick yourself a homepage, click up top your tools go to internet options it will say either homepage or startpage the web address displayed is the current homepage, type in the box the homepage you want...... ok more later hopefully we all will get an email from feedburner.....

Sunday Paper!

Ok so it is Sunday morning, your job is to get up and buy a Sunday paper, at least one! I will buy at least 2 to 3, I have already ask my poor husband that if Savannah's coupon are bad will he go to Jesup and get me papers there. In Jesup, Brunswick and beyond towards Florida is the GA Union Times. It is a Florida based paper for Ga cities near Florida. Bigger cities tend to have better coupons.
Once you get the paper pull all the ads out sit down and look for items that use alot and notice the prices. The more you read the ads the more you will learn how $$$ things costs. You will also soon learn how much these cost when there are on sale. Hopefully you will understand this lesson the next time you go to buy your favorite grocery item and realize that buying that item on sale will save you so many cents.More later I got to work

Coupon / Shopping Lesson

I get asked at least twice a night about do I know where a sale is or where should they buy something?
Most of the time I know. Its because of the internet, the web is full of resources that will teach you about coupons. Now only teach you about coupons, but also tell you what items are on sale and where so you can use that coupon with a sale.
A website that is very helpful is www.couponmom.com.
Coupon mom does not only mathc coupons for GA stores, but several stores for almost each state with different stores. The website is free to use, you just need to register. She does this for free in hopes that in return you will pass along your savings and donate to a food pantry in your area. Hopefully soon as we get this blog rolling we can all donate to a local food pantry.
So today's lesson is how to use Couponmom's website. Every Thursday I visit Couponmom's site to see the match up she has for the new Publix ad.

1. First you need to register you will use the email address as your login

2. Click on the left menu Grocery Deals by state

3. Pick the store in the drop down menu --- click go
I am picking Georgia Deals - Publix

A new window will open up with the sales for that store. Across the top you will see

* Cpn Out : this is the DATE the coupon came out in the Sunday paper and which insert

3/22 ss means March 22nd in Smart Source is where the coupon came from

*Description : tells what item is

* Cpn Value : (self expl) it tells you the coupon value

*Quantity : how many you have to buy, reason is if the coupon is $$/2 you need to buy to items to use that coupon

*Sale Price : $$$ how much the item is on sale for

* Final Price $ : How much the item will cost you after using a coupon

*% Saved : the % saved buying this item on sale with a coupon

4. Now in the new window look at the list on the right side of the page next to % Saved is 2 arrows click the down arrow.

This reaaranges the page with the biggest saving items on top of the list.

5. Now read the list, look for items you buy regularly, look for items that you do have a coupon for, now you will see why EVERY Sunday you must buy at least ONE Sunday Paper.

So this week at Publix I am getting Cat food for .25 cents a bag!!!! Notice coupon mom typed Charity after this item, this item is super cheap after the coupon, so no cats? Buy it and donate it to your local animal shelter, give it to your neighbor.

Now you might be saying thats a great price I want more, well to buy more at that price you need more coupons. I will cover that more in another coupon lesson, but maybe this Sunday you will buy a paper look thru the coupons, is there one coupon in there that you will use that will cover the cost of your paper??? Then get another paper, or ask friends, neighbors, for thier coupons. I have the convience of a recycling center near my house that every monday has a stack of Sunday papers still with coupons inside.

Read a Grocery Ad lately?

When is the last time you read a grocery ad? Hopefully this week! Alot of Americans do not do this. Yet we work hard daily to earn money some of us do not work hard to keep our hard earned money.

It's Tuesday night and it's my ritual to get online to www.couponmom.com, then I check www.publix.com website. Coupon Mom is a great site full of tons of information on how to use coupons. Please register. Then use the drop menus to view Grocery Deals by State and pick your state and your store. This service is free and super useful. She matches up current Grocers ad to current coupons to maximize savings, she even tells the date the coupon came out in the Sunday paper!

Now Publix in Georgia the Sale starts on Thursday and ends Wed, in South Carolina it starts on Tue, so on Tuesday I get online to check if there are any items I want to get at Publix tomorrow before the sale ends. I then check the South Carolina ad to see what sales will be starting on Thursday.

Reading grocery ads will eventually save you time and money. Learning to plan meals around sales. Matching menus to the seasons. Slowly you will see the cycles grocery stores have. You will see that you should never throw a coupon away before expires, alot of sales will run right before that coupon expires.

So your homework is to look at your local ad check it out online just google your local store and click weekly ad. See what you can save money on this week!

Where do you get your coupons?

I get asked this so many times a week by cashier and co workers, the magical answer is the Sunday Paper.

Ok there are coupons other places but the paper is the first place, then start looking around coupons are at the grocery store, at the gas station, in products you already bought at home, in magazines (All You Magazine is packed with coupons)

Now the little coupons that are at the grocery store in the lil machine with the red blinking lights are called blinkie coupon. Now your first urge is not to grab the coupon if you are not buying that item. GRAB THE COUPONS! Why?? The best way to save money is to use a Coupon on an item when its on sale, now you ok so I will grab it next time when I buy that item and its on sale, little hint that lil blinkie coupon machine will not be there once the product is on sale. It will magically disappear during the sale.

CVS

Ok hopefully everyone has a CVS card if you dont get one at the counter, keep it, you need the same one every time from now to maximize your CVS savings.

CVS has a great program called extracare bucks, or aka cvs cash. To begin each week I will try to post scenarios to get you rolling in extracare bucks, and free items with no more than $5 out of pocket exspense. Watch how I can take $5 and turn into items you will use!

Strawberries are still 3/$5 these are the big containers of strawberies, and did you know Publix takes competitor's coupons? Yes they do, if you are signed up with Food Lion's emails this week there was a $2/5 Produce coupon I will be using it at Publix to get 3 things of strawberries for $3!

Also grab a flyer from the front use the $2 Covergirl Publix coupn and use your $1/1 covergirl coupon for $3 off one covergirl item, = free eyeshadow, free eyeliner, or cheap lipgloss and other items

I have this love hate relationship with Kmart! I hate their store but I love their double coupons. So far Kmart has been having a Super Doubles Event every month for 1 week in 2009. Kmart will double any manufacturer's coupon up to $2.00. Savannah and Jesup Kmart doubles start Sunday March 22,

This means you have a $2 coupon off cat food Kmart will double it and give you $4 off the cat food!

Also quick tip when checking out at Kmart during super doubles, place the item on the belt place coordinating coupon beside, please make sure they scan the coupon after the item. Reason being is the Kmart computer has to match the coupon to the item to double the coupon and if they wait til the end to match it will take forever, trust me I know!!!!
